Praise Report: Varshini is healthy again and heading back to school
Thanks to your generosity and prayers, Varshini is smiling and ready for 8th grade.
I wanted to share an encouraging update on Varshini, the 14-year-old Christian girl from rural India who underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix a month ago.
Because of her tiny size — just 24 inches tall and 27 pounds — her recovery was long and difficult. But by God’s grace, she’s healthy again and preparing to start 8th grade!
Click here to read more of Varshini’s remarkable story — including how she was found abandoned in a trash can just days after birth 14 years ago.
In India, families must pay in full before receiving medical care — even in life-threatening emergencies like this. And for a child to attend public school, tuition must be paid up front for the entire year.
Many poor families in India simply can’t afford medical care or education — or they’re forced to take on crushing, high-interest debt to cover the cost.
That’s why we at The India Pastors Project (TIPP) are so grateful to those of you who gave specifically to help Varshini last month. Your donations covered the full cost of her surgery ($1,070), and now, thanks to one donor, her $472 school fee is paid.
“Varshini is very, very happy and excited about the academic year,” said Pastor KP, our liaison in India. “Thank you for supporting Varshini. She is very, very excited and grateful.”
Meanwhile, Chuck Myers, Tim Brown and I will be teaching tonight over Zoom to more than 100 pastors gathering in Dornala, India. We will teach through Mark 9-16, starting at 10:30 p.m. ET and finishing Monday at 3 a.m. ET.
Please pray for us and the pastors — and for Pastor KP, who will translate our words into Telugu.
10:27pm, praying for you all now! Thankful for God's mercy!
