This is cool. A lot of my friends and family are Christians with tattoos.

I was a first-time counselor at a week-long Christian camp, almost 30 years ago (before tattoos were really common). I was nervous on camper check-in day, and especially more so when I saw a young man walking toward me with multiple tattoos showing peaking out of his tank top. I prayed, "Lord, please don't put him in my group." Well, he was in the cabin next to mine, but I missed out on a blessing. Turns out he was a former gang-member who had recently gotten saved. As a way to honor God (in the best way he knew how), he got "SAVED" tattooed across his upper chest.

Absolutely love this seemingly small, but hugely impactful way to “invest in the one” God puts in front of you. Great article and even better implication. Thank you!

I think this is wonderful. I actually don’t have any tattoos and have always struggled with the idea of one and also struggle with writing on new things (like notes in a new Bible) which is crazy because I love to sketch and draw. Maybe I’m stuck on the idea of something remaining new and untouched and perfection and need to just break free of that.

As you can see from my profile pic on this app I have a cross tattooed on my left shoulder. After I rededicated my life to a Christ last year I thought long and hard about getting this tattoo. I sketched it out myself on paper over and over again for months. Then I prayed about it, read what both Old and New Testament scholars said about tattoo’s and then a year ago Labor Day weekend I got this cross as a reminder of not only what Jesus sacrificed for me and all of us on the cross at Calvary but as a constant and permanent reminder that my life now belongs to Him.

Tattoos are one of my most effective in favorite evangelism tools. However, from the opposite angle. Someone doesn’t have a tattoo unless it’s a big deal for them. So I ask lots of questions about tattoos whenever I see them, and I get amazing windows of opportunity into a person’s life, challenges, victories, and it opens doors for spiritual conversations
